====----Plot Outline----==== Ramu (Kalyan Ram) is very fond of his maradalu Lakshmi (Kaajal). Ramu is an uneducated guy who works in farms. Arvind (Sairam Shankar) comes to Hyderabad to join in a telecommunication company as an executive. 2007's been such a slow year for films. I can count the number of decent movies on my fingers. Which is what makes me wait with bated breath for the Oct. 12th release of "Laga chunari mein daag". And then ofcourse come the mega-movies OSO and Saawariya. Both release on the same day, so with all the hype going around, votes are split on which will better the other. The writers at PlanetBollywood (including yours truly) had a discussion on this, the results of which are presented in this article.

====----Plot Outline----==== Harini (Poonam Bajwa) was a true synonym of the current generation youth. She has no fear from eve-teasers and instead she used make boys scapegoats by teasing them. Her her grandfather (K Viswanath) and mother (Sudha) also use to pamper her. On the other side of the coil Srikar (Raja) is a practical man. He believes in serving the people and establishes 'Amma' trust, where he serves destitute women with the help of his friends.
Srikar and his friends stay on the top floor of Harini's grandfather on rent. Harini thinks that Srikar is trying to win her by impressing her mother. One fine day, Harini realises that he is not that kind of man and becomes a friend of Srikar and his group. After a few days both Srikar and Harini find that they were in love with each other but none dare to propose their love to the other.
However, Harini turns nervous when Srikar's sister-in-law (maradalu) Amala @ Ammu (Anu Mehta) visits their house for a tennis tournament fearing that she is trying to lure Srikar. But, Harini becomes relax after coming to know that Ammu loves tennis and not Srikar, she befriends with her as well.
When Srikar's father Prasad (Naresh) visits their house, Harini's grandfather proposes an alliance. On his father's advice, Srikar reveals his love to Harini but the latter slaps him. Confused at the situation, Srikar feels bad for a moment but soon he learns that Harini feared Subbu, whom she teased some time ago. Incidentally, Subbu is a friend of Srikar, to whom he taught lessons for two times earlier. So Srikar meets Subbu and teaches him another lesson. The film ends on a happy note with the union of Srikar and Harini.

EVERYBODY SAYS I'M FINE (ESIF) : INTERESTING !
This film is directed by Rahul Bose, and he acts in it too. In the first half I was inclined to dismiss him as a director, because the film had a surreal, psychedelic, disjointed quality to it, as though shot by an amateur. No sophistication, no smoothening over awkward moments, just the bald truth put out very crudely. Like someone was shooting a home movie. However it gets better, so a large dose of patience is in order.
The story is a little surreal too - it's about a popular hair-dresser to the richie-rich (who else actually goes in for Rs.1100 trims ?) Xen who after a traumatic childhood experience, is able to listen to people's thoughts. Not always though, but only when he's connected to them - like when he's cutting their hair.
Now Xen, who's also the owner of the beauty salon where he cuts hair, is a very, very nice guy, to the point where I'm thinking - how can such a nice guy actually run a successful business ? So he treats his co-workers very well, is welcoming to all his patrons (although he can hear all their sordid thoughts) and is a do-gooder kind of a guy. So, when he knows a person is in trouble, he does what he can to help. You'd think hearing everyone's anguish and filth would be troubling for oneself, yeah ? Apparently for Xen too, who in his apartment above the salon, has the TV switched on but forever on mute, lives very quietly, and seems to have hardly any friends or life besides his work.
Into this odd life comes Nikita. She's come to have a hair-cut but when Xen cuts her hair, much to his surprise he can't hear a thing. It's like she has no thoughts ! Xen is attracted to Nikita, but soon discovers that she's plagued by her own demons . . .
The film seemed to come together as time went by, and Bose actually managed to cobble together some quite poignant scenes. The film’s characters seemed a little angular, as in not well-rounded or well-fleshed out, probably because we see them only in the hair salon or in close proximity to it. The outside world is kind of shut out, which it can’t possibly be – not in India, where noises and smells of your surroundings (however posh they might be) come seeping in. The main protagonist Rehan Engineer, seemed a little wooden-faced but did OK, while Brit-desi Koel Puri playing Nikita, just about managed. Some of the other characters – Tanya, a rich socialite having trouble in her marital home, was well portrayed by Pooja Bhatt. And Boman Irani had a small part – that of Mr. Mittal, which he as usual was immaculate in.
An interesting film, this is primarily in English, with a smattering of Hindi (Hinglish if you please). It is pretty adult-themed, ie; topics unsuitable for children. ESIF is also very stylistically shot, and may not appeal to viewers looking for a “traditional” film. It has an interesting story to tell though, so if you arm yourself with some patience and forbearance, you might actually like this one.

28 Weeks later is the sequel to the successful 28 Days later. This movie takes place 6 months after the original outbreak of the infection from the original movie.
Spanish Director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo wrote and directed this film. This is his English language film.
Danny Boyle , who directed the original 28 Days later movie, turns producer for this movie.
The Movie :
28 Days later was a highly acclaimed movie, which brought the Zombie genre back into vogue. Although not strictly a zombie movie, these movies take inspiration from the genre. The movie begins 28 weeks after the original outbreak of the rage virus, which had laid waste to the entire Britain. The movie begins with a scene inside a house where a few people have been holed up surviving the infected. They are having a quiet dinner when they hear a knock on the door and the voice of a kid calling for help. They let the kid inside , but unfortunately, the infected follow him(with some help from the customary dumb blonde ) and there's chaos everywhere, resulting in the husband running away leaving his wife to the mercy of the infected. The scene is extremely well shot and sets the tone for the entire movie. The pace of the movie is very good. Rose Byrne ( one of my favourites lately ) , plays Scarlet, who is a major in the US army, which has been stationed in London, to start the reconstruction. Harrold Perrineau (Michael from the popular series LOST ) , plays the role of Flynn and Jeremy Renner plays sergeant Doyle ( a name probably referring to Danny Boyle ) .
After the infected died of starvation, the US army enters the mainland and starts the process of reconstruction. Britain is declared free of infection and a small area on the Isle of Dogs is set for reconstruction. The scene shifts to the airport where we are shown a plane full of returnees landing. They are 2 kids among them, who turn out to be the kids of the couple shown in the first scene. The father has apparently survived and is now the caretaker of the facility in the Isle of Dogs. Scarlet is worried on seeing the kids as she's afraid that the infection might return. However, her bosses think that they have everything under control.
Meanwhile, as is the requirement with horror movies, the kids are a bit dumb and venture outside the safe zone, to their old home, where they find their mother, who has been infected, but turns out that she's resistant to the infection, probably because she has a rare genetic make up , as shown in the different colours of her iris. The army doesnt realise that she's infected , as its impossible to survive so long without food and they bring her to the safe area. Meanwhile, Scarlet who takes a sample of her blood for testing, realises that she's infected but resistant to the virus. She wants to make more tests on her, in the hope that a cure could be found for the infection. Meanwhile , Don (the husband) realises that his wife is alive ( He had told his kids that he had seen her die ) and goes to meet her. Unfortunately, he is not resistant to the virus and he becomes the cause of the new outbreak. He kills his wife and then starts on the road to infecting every one around him . Scarlet now makes it her job to rescue the kids as she realises that one of the kids has the same condition as his mother and thus, could be resistant to the infection. Very soon, the outbreak is out of control and the US army has to resort to killing everyone in sight, regardless of whether they are infected or not. Scarlet is on the run alongwith the kids and is joined by Doyle , who pledges to help get the kids out of Britain as he realises that their lives are more important than his. The rest of the movie revolves around what happens as they try to escape.
Analysis:
28 Weeks Later is extremely well paced and is sure to satisfy both the horror fans and fans of fast paced thrillers. The acting is good. Rose Byrne , who has been impressive in each of her roles so far, is good as Scarlet. Her expression , which looks sad almost all the time coz of her eyes, suits the role perfectly. The rest of the supporting cast fit their roles well too . The story of the movie, although not very new, is adequate for a movie belonging to the genre. However, the movie is not perfect in every way. There are a few plot holes or goof ups now and then. Its a little difficult to digest the fact that the kids find it so easy to escape from the safe zone with so much security around. Also, it takes the US army an awful amount of time to reach the kids home. This is more annoying due to the fact that the whole movie hinges on the US army reaching the kids after they found their mother. Also , when the infection breaks out, all the people are dumped into an underground hall and locked inside. But theres another entrance to the room through which, the infected gets inside. Seems pretty dumb to lock all the people inside that hall when there's another entrance to that room.
Conclusion:
28 weeks later is an extremely well made, slick thriller. People who liked the original days movie would surely like this one. Also, you need not have watched the original movie to like this one. The pace of this movie is better than the original movie. And having Rose Byrne is a bonus for those who liked her performances in Troy, Sunshine and Wicker Park. The only irritant is a few plot holes. But that shouldnt be a problem for people who arent prone to nitpicking, unlike me :) . On the whole, 28 Weeks Later is a worthy sequel to 28 Days Later, which can stand on its own in comparison to its predecessor and a must watch for fans of the Horror/ Thriller genre.
