When ever i open anything it says this file does not have an extension associated with it. i tried re-downloading everything but it says to use the web service to find it. I also seem to notice that it does it with exe not rar or html. I need help and my uncle(adminastrator) is out of town.

I need some service for my "project" - it can be both "server based" or "client based".

It mainly consists of lots of images (about 1000), but I also need to have some "normal text" pages between it.

I tried flickr, but I cannot create static images on flicr. I tried MediaWiki (wikipedia is based on that), but one cannot upload images easily into MediaWiki-based web.

So, I would like something MediaWiki-like, but with much better images uploading features.

I have opened a new website which seems to be getting quite popular, its a video hosting/sharing website. Yesterday my hosting company suspended the account on the terms that i was hosting copyrighted materials... Users do upload copyrighted material as well as adult video which i clearly state in TOS that it isn't allowed. I also monitor the website and delete anything that is in violation to the TOS (nothing lasts over 2-5 hours). Now i live outside the US but my hosting is in the US and i am tottally aware of the DMCA. If i am not allowed to run this website, then why are the bigger sites still online? veoh, youtube, etc... I have found countless copyrighted material on their servers, what can i do to keep my website running and not getting into trouble at the same time?

I am thinking of having an alternate e-mail solution, beside Yahoo. Yahoo is not quite the best for me. What I want is:

1. SPEED (Yahoo is slow sometimes. Also less cookies would be nice...)

2.SECURITY (I believe Yahoo accounts are most susceptible to hackers and viruses attacks due to this web service popularity. Also, after you sign out of Yahoo, if you click the back arrow from the browser you are transfered inside your e-mail account again without any security prompting -- that is not good!)

3. SIZE (Not a first concern but it matters sometimes)

4. EASY (and if possible FUNNY) INTERFACE.

My mom's switching me from MetroPCS (Best company EVER) to T-Mobile(I'm going to gag). Which means I'll have to lose my Kyocera Strobe K612B(MY BABY!) I don't wanna lose my phone!!!! I love it more than anything, it's so hard to let it go.

I don't like T-Mobile, because everything you do goes on your bill. That includes AIM and Internet, and on Metro, it's unlimited. I get more freedom with Metro. i'm just too afraid to switch to T-Mobile. It's expensive

Voting Question: What's the most effective way to monitor government legislation through the internet?

I volunteer to watch our state (CA) legislation (bill proposals, new laws, etc...) for an organization that's existence is contingent upon keeping a watchful eye on new legislation. My job is go the the CA Leg website and type in groups of keywords to the search engine every day then scroll through the documents that come up. It's time consuming and not very effective. I'm sure someone must have created a better method for watching legislation. I'm looking for software or a web service or search engine that will allow me to get automated alerts for my keyword search. I've tried Google Alerts but that searches through the entire web and I only need this one specific site. Any suggestions?

Resolved Question: Why are Yahoo! and Google helping to censor the internet for the Chinese government?

I support the Free Tibet campaign and have learned that Yahoo and Google have set up, for the Chinese government, a web service that is heavily censored. Surely it goes against the whole idea of the net's purpose, which (I think) should be about freedom of information? China has a terrible record of human rights abuses so why have these 2 companies (and others) agreed to do this? I now use 'Everyclick' as my web server, as they give 50% of their advertising to charities (of which I obviously chose the Free Tibet campaign) unlike Yahoo and Google who make billions and keep it all, while ACTIVELY helping to repress freedom of information for a sixth of the world! Someone tell me why they chose to do this? I love their services but I can't support this.

Resolved Question: can i debug and save a log file from a web service called by a web application?

im having some troubles here..
i can save a log file from a web application using the Debug class from System.Diagnostics namespace.
when i debug the web service, it also saves the log file.
however, when the web service is called by the web application, only the application's log file is saved. the web service's log file is not even created.
i would appreciate any help, as i need this pretty urgently!

hi fixedinseattle, thank you for answering.
im currently running the WS in debug, and user ASPNET is an administrator and has full control in local machine, where the WS is hosted.
the weird thing is that the log is saved when i run the WS by itself, but not when its called by the application.
the app is in VB.net and the WS in ASP.net
any clue of what could be the problem?

God do I hate Sprint PCS!! My story begins in July 07' when I signed on with them. My array of complaints include the following:

*incorrect billing including:
my phone being shut off 3 times due to errors on their end, a FREE phone being charged to my account, a premium service was added to my account without my consent, inconsistent information from reps, a free activation fee charged to my account, wireless web service charged to my account (my phone has the web disabled), among many other frustrations.

I have done what I can to address my isssues with Sprint, who are basically worthless in helping. I finally filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau asking to be let out of my contract.

Sprint has denied my request twice saying I "accepted the terms of a 2 year contract".

Isn't a contract meant to protect both parties? How can a contract be worth anything if Sprint consistenly makes errors like these?

Sprint also, charged me for a second account when I set up the first, I starting getting bills for another account with my name spelled wrong. When I refused to pay for it because I didn't authorize it, they threatened to send my phantom "account" to the major credit bureaus!
